Feeling Average

This morning I came to the realization that I am not really great at anything right now. I'm okay at a few things, and really bad at some, but not over-the-top in any of the roles I play. I'm not a great housekeeper or cook or organizer and I don't feel like a fabulous mother lately. This isn't a pity party, I'm just wondering if this is just how it is during a season of life when I'm wearing lots of hats and have three little kids. Maybe I don't have time to be excellent :) Can that be my excuse?

Anybody relate?

  1. An excellent woman, who can find? (Prov.31)
In this Proverb, a description of an excellent woman is given, which we all as women would love to have said of her, or at least some of it. But NO ONE is able, or even willing to actually be all that it describes.

As your mom, I have seen you develop into an amazing mom, wife, "social worker", etc., and am very proud of your accomplishments. However I have also seen you "burn the candle at both ends" so often that you don't take time for yourself, and the stress of that is too overwhelming for any of us. "Be still and KNOW that HE IS GOD"; rest in His presence, and let Him nourish you. You need it. We all need it. Let the kids see you taking time for yourself, and teach them how to do it at the same time. They will eventually get the hang of it.

Anyway, enough of that. You are an "excellent woman in my book." I love you, Mom

  2. You are the best Ashley Pittman that I have ever met. ;)

I understand completely. That has been my story for the past 18 years...seriously. How Satan likes to torment with it, but OOOOH how God wants to use it! We need not be excellent at anything except resting in Him (which, coincidentally, I'm not exactly excelling in right now...).

And one thing you are great at is getting me THINKING. Let's do lunch and/or coffee soon.

  3. Favored Daughter: You are a Godly Mom and the heart of your family. Tell Satan to "Go Home!", if you know what I mean.
